Update, 8/15/12: The Mumford and Sons Gentlemen of the Road Stopover in Dixon, Illionis is this weekend. A quick refresher: Mumford and Sons plays overlooked small towns with hefty lineups of pals -- in this case Gogol Bordello, Abigail Washburn, the Very Best, Haim, Dawes, Apache Relay and Nathaniel Rateliff. It has long been way sold out, but there is a robust third party market at the moment. So robust, in fact, that passes can be had for basically face value through StubHub and Craigslist. The former has festival passes starting at $71. Craiglist, as usual, requires a bit more digging and rewards you with better offers. A poster in the Quad Cities Craiglist is offering an unknown number of passes for $69 and three camping passes (also sold out) for face value: $20. There are a few sellers in the St. Louis area as well, several right around what you would have paid anyway. So, to recap:

Mumford & Sons has just announced an unusual summer tour, and one of its four US dates is in Dixon, Illinois. A limited run of tickets will be on sale 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9 for $59 (with no fees or charges). The rest will be $69 (again, no fees) and you can reserve campsites created by the tour for $20.
And that may seem a little steep (but really, for a smallish outdoor concert headlined by one of the biggest bands in the world, it wouldn't be), except it's not just a show. It's a mini-festival, with food, shopping and general involvement in the town, arranged in collaboration between the tour and the city of Dixon. Mumford and Sons will headline the music part of the festival (which takes place in Page Park), but they aren't the only ones playing: You also get Gogol Bordello, Dawes, Abigail Washburn, the Very Best, Apace Relay and Haim. We, uh, strongly, strongly recommend you find a way to get to this.

The Gentlemen of the Road Stopover is based loosely upon our favorite festivals like Colorado's Telluride Bluegrass and Scotland's Loopallu Festivals. We want to stop off in towns where bands don't usually tour, and celebrate the local people, food and music.We're keen to promote the town's local businesses, and we'll be using the local bars and venues for after-show parties, whilst working closely with the local people to get everyone involved in making these shows spectacular. There will be a host of our friends playing too, and the vibe falls somewhere between 'travelling Victorian circus' and 'Victorian travelling circus'. It should be a whole lot of fun."
