Papercuts is Jason Quever, a multi-instrumentalist who's collaborated with the likes of Cass McCombs and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. Aside from Quever's penchant for writing, producing and performing his own songs, subtlety shines as one of Papercuts' greatest assets. The band's music layers simplistic bass lines and drum beats with the occasional well-placed keystroke of an organ and smooth, timid vocals; the net effect sounds like a breathier and poppier (but just as dreamy) Jesus and Mary Chain, or perhaps a happier Iron & Wine. With a little help from some friends, Quever will re-create his songs live at Off Broadway. Still Corners — which just signed to Papercuts' label, Sub Pop — will also perform.
