Parachute Musical subtly embeds smart time changes and highly involved arrangements within its infectious, slick piano-pop. The ivory-twinkling focus and epic dynamics of the Nashville quartet's songs occasionally resemble Jack's Mannequin, and its penchant to make things swing a bit might draw somewhat-obvious Ben Folds Five comparisons. However, it's hard to draw a direct line between other piano-driven bands. "Back the Same" glitters brightly with shimmery pop production and bounces along on a Latin-swing feel before the backbeat-heavy chorus ups the energy level and shifts toward Josh Foster's sugary vocal hook. "Everything Is Working Out Fine in Some Town," on the other hand, is a slow-building symphonic piece full of orchestral percussion and fluttering strings; it possesses theatrical qualities without coming off as overly dramatic.
