REO Speedwagon has close connections with the city of St. Louis. The classic-rockers-turned-power-ballad-smiths recorded the entirety of its 2000 live album Arch Allies at that local amphitheater with an identity crisis (then referred to as Riverport) alongside its summer nostalgia-circuit comrades Styx. But REO's relationship with St. Louis actually goes back to the 1977 live album You Get What You Play For, on which several songs were recorded at the old Kiel Auditorium. In fact, What You Play For marked REO's first commercial success after several attempts by an array of producers to capture the energy and musicianship of the band's live show in a studio environment. Although the 2007 release Find Your Own Way Home includes the first new material recorded by the band in over a decade, in concert is where the band still manages to convince.
