The thing about
Tommy is, if you explain it, it sounds daft. A boy witnesses an event that causes a psychosomatic severing of his faculties and becomes a human alloy of the three wise monkeys. He's subsequently molested, treated by witch doctors wielding hallucinogens and cured by a broken mirror. Suddenly, he can see/hear/feel you, thus becoming a messiah and poon magnet. Dumb, right? But, bolstered by some of the greatest songs ever written ("Pinball Wizard," "I'm Free") this deranged fairy tale comes to the Peabody with multiple happy endings: The rock opera will be played in full. "Baba O'Riley" will most definitely be in the encore. Oh, and: Roger Daltrey will be there.
We're With You, But: Shouts for "Quadrophenia!" will result in a swift (mental) ass-kicking.
