Serengeti

Chicago rapper Serengeti wears his influences on his sleeve: Sniper, Bloodsport's Frank Dux and Chong Li, Mike Ditka, Critters, Ferris Bueller, Sniper 2, Klonopin, Brian Dennehy, Prince, Jays chips, O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer, Sniper 3, Malibu, Jägermeister, tennis, Bennigan's, Squirt, Juicy Fruit gum, curly fries, iPods, frisbees, cucumbers, Barry Bonds and, of course, Arid Extra Dry deodorant. The point is that you never know what you're going to get at a Serengeti show. Though the F5 Records and Frozen Food Section recording artist is barely older than Katie Holmes, he has more than a dozen albums under his belt and draws from all of them live -- and his songs mix aspects of hip-hop and rock, as well as incorporate indie and mainstream sensibilities.

Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $6; call 314-781-4716 for more information.
