The darkwave duo of Adam Bravin and Justin Warfield is known mostly for its hyperbolic retreads of the '80s holy trinity: Joy Division, Depeche Mode and the Cure. She Wants Revenge came on the scene as the post-punk revival was on its way out, but its 2006 self-titled debut made waves all the same as the highly sexed antidote to Panic! at the Disco and the like. Carnal imagery, anti-love themes and filthy beats marked the band's first two albums. But 2011's Valleyheart, four years in the making, is a puzzling homage to its hometown, which is also one of the most dissed 'burbs in the nation: the San Fernando Valley. The duo has left the synthy dark side for straight alternative snooze-rock. If nothing else, it's a great way to make the suburbs proud.
