The Sing For China Tour features a triumvirate of Beijing acts billed as "three of the biggest and best bands in China." Coed trio Hedgehog headlines with its Britpop-influenced jangly rock and delightful song titles such as "Noise Hit World" and "24 Hours Rock Party." Meanwhile, Queen Sea Big Shark plays heavily vocoded electro rave-ups akin to Daft Punk, and Casino Demon's minimalist garage-punk features a tuneless vocalist and mechanical riffs that seem to be summoned from one-string guitars. If these art-rockers are truly some of the most successful bands from China's capital city, it makes our country's largest musical exports — the Jonases, Cyruses and Nickelbacks — seem rather uncultured.
