STL Up Late's Hilarious New Video Making Fun of Homophobia in the NFL is Perfect

On Sunday, Mizzou defensive lineman Michael Sam announced to the NFL and the world that he is gay, meaning that if drafted he will be the first openly homosexual player in the league. If it's news to you that sexual orientation has no impact on how good or bad a defensive lineman you are, you have some learning to do.

Luckily, STL Up Late producer Josh McNew found a hilarious way to look at Sam's story that's as entertaining as it is an introspective look into the false perceptions some have about sexual orientation and athletic ability.

"I was on my way to work and heard the story on NPR, and I kept thinking to myself, 'There has to be a good joke here.' So as soon as I got to work I tossed the idea around with Eric [Christensen, also of STL Up Late], and by the end of the work day we were on our way to shoot the video," McNew tells RFT Music. After rallying anyone available who could pass for a college-aged football player and locking down a classroom, a video crew was assembled.

By 2 a.m. the following morning McNew and Christensen had final edits in place, and "Football Player Comes Out" was YouTube approved. Watch the seriously funny video below:
