Foul-mouthed Atlanta riot grrls The Coathangers are bringing their irreverent post-punk to Antarctica tonight with fellow Georgians Predator and Belleville's Egg Chef. The name is a light-hearted poke at abortion, and the band formed in 2006 for a one-off joke performance, but the novelty didn't wear off--the Coathangers have since released two full length albums and three 7" EPs.
Its material ranges from an ode to figure-skating bad bitch Tonya Harding, to songs with lyrics such as, "Leave my shit alone/Don't touch my shit/It's my shit." The band's been known to shoot Silly String and hock loogies into the crowd at shows, so expect the unexpected, or bring an umbrella. And just try to leave this show tonight without singing the lyrics to the incomparable "Nestle in My Boobies": "Nestle in my boobies, they're sooo comfortable!"
