The Demo: Management from the Firebird and Lola Team Up on New Venue

The Fox Hole, known to many as that big under-utilized room attached to Atomic Cowboy, is about to see some big changes. Management from the Firebird and Lola have teamed up to breathe new life into the space in the Grove neighborhood, merging their varied and extensive booking contacts to provide local music lovers with a one-stop destination for music of all shape and size. This new venture will be called The Demo.

"If anyone was going to find a flaw, it would probably be in the collision of cultures," says Mike Cracchiolo of the Firebird. "But that's what I'm excited about."

Some of the talent buying will be done by Chris Hansen of Leisure Studies, who presently handles the booking for Lola, some will be done by Cracchiolo and some will be done in-house. Jake Snyder, previously of Cicero's, will be the venue's manager. "He's going to be the guy in the trenches," Cracchiolo explains.

"It's going to take a minute to ramp up, but I feel like we're starting in a real good place. Chris has a ton of contacts. He's interested in doing a lot of EDM, soul, throwback hip-hop, stuff like that."

"A lot of what I'm going to bring through in March is mostly going to be some noisy shit," Cracchiolo continues. "We'll see, but I really hope that this becomes a good spot in St. Louis for garage rock and other noisy stuff."

The Demo will be holding a "soft opening" over the weekend of February 1, hosting shows with Sidewalk Chalk on Friday and Wax Tailor on Saturday. The venue's grand opening will be February 15 with Vintage Vinyl presenting Vintage Trouble. The venue's website is set to launch today -- if that link doesn't work yet, just keep clicking on it all day long until it does.
