Gore Gore Girls

Sophistication is overrated. The wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am of AC/DC yields no ground to the rococo sensibilities of King Crimson -- while the Gore Gore Girls similarly avail themselves of the simple, no-bullshit pleasure of a raunchy attitude and rock & roll heart. In their go-go boots and slit skirts, the Motown quartet (which now boasts the first Gore Gore Guy, bassist Nick Detroit) is the garage-rock answer to the Donnas' punk-pop Runaways, laying down a thick, rhythmic four-lane pulse for the hurtling barre-chord roar. Though they began with a mix of '60s-era garage- and girl-group aesthetics, the Girls have grown grittier and more ferocious with age -- especially live, where a feral four-chord stomp can shake the rafters.

Show starts at 9 p.m. Call 314-664-7638 for more information.
