After the frustrated manner in which Evan Dando left the stage at the end of the Lemonheads' set at the VooDoo Lounge last February — the poster boy of '90s slackerdom threw down his guitar and stormed off the stage in the middle of his solo-acoustic encore — it's somewhat surprising that he's returning to that, shall we say, "lofty" stage in Maryland Heights. But while staring up at the seminal indie-rockers for an hour can cause neck spasms (and denies fans the chance to admire Dando's latest choice in footwear), it's worth it: The Lemonheads aren't likely to disappoint. Last winter's set was chock-full of crowd-pleasing gems from the band's early days, as well as choice selections from its underappreciated 2006 self-titled effort, from the bouncy shuffle of "Become the Enemy" to the acoustic-jitter punk tune "No Backbone." While the latter fell short of the album version's intensity — likely because of the absence of Bill Stevenson's maniacal drumming and J. Mascis' signature buzz-saw lead-guitar frenzy — older material from It's a Shame About Ray lent itself to the stripped down, three-piece lineup.
