While the talents of Death Cab for Cutie member Chris Walla have been good to two notable regional acts — both So Many Dynamos and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin have benefited from his deft production skill — he hasn't forgotten bands from his native Pacific Northwest. The Lonely Forest hails from Anacortes, Washington, and is the first signing to Walla's Trans imprint (a subsidiary of DCFC's home, Atlantic Records). The band's self-titled EP came out a few weeks back and positively shimmers with the tightly wound melodic movements of mid-'80s R.E.M. and the pastoral ruminations of Walla's bandmate Ben Gibbard. The Lonely Forest will share the stage with Margot & the Nuclear So and So's, which is touring in support of its latest album of well-adorned chamber-folk, Buzzard.
