The Nadas

Jangle-pop may be the stuff of warmer climes like Athens, Georgia or San Francisco, but the members of the Nadas have spent the last twelve years trying to get their hometown on Des Moines, Iowa, on the map. And with a steadfast Midwestern work ethic, the band continues to write, record and perform for small but dedicated crowds, many of whom likely believe that the group should have been the next Counting Crows. The as-yet-unreleased track "Home" on the band's MySpace page (myspace.com/thenadas) distills the Nadas' best bits: twangy guitars, a driving beat and straightforward words of dedication, delivered with singer Mike Butterworth's throaty earnestness.
