A few years ago, the Samples were nearly bankrupt and had to turn to fans for support; their loyalists responded by purchasing "lifetime passes" for a price equal to whatever the Samples' music meant to them. Thanks to this financial support, the band is able to continue the grassroots revolution that's helped it sell over one million albums without radio, MTV or label support. The Samples' post-folk-rock lulls the soul like early Sting (or Vicodin), while Sean Kelly's voice is a warm embrace you won't want to let go. Even at home you'll find yourself swaying, wondering if maybe you should wave a lighter in the air.
Show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15; call 314-727-4444 for more information.
