The Slip appeals to the patchouli crowd and videogamers alike. The former are drawn to the band's live improvisation (or possibly the synchronized guitar and kazoo solos), while the latter come for the song "Even Rats," from the game Guitar Hero. But a mixed crowd makes sense, given the combination of subtle songwriting, electronic experimentation and the occasional live freakouts that make the Slip a cousin to the jam-band brotherhood. At their Cicero's show, expect the eclectic: dance beats, blips and bleeps one minute and dirty guitar-rock the next. Additionally, there will be a pre-concert clinic at Washington University's music school for those who want to talk music theory or ask, "How do you make those weird noises with your bass?"
