Melt turns one this week.

To get in on some birthday action, hang out at Melt this week while it turns one, and head to Plush this Saturday as Apop Records blows out a decade's worth of candles. Other great celebrations include the return of DJ Mahf's Funk Jam series, release shows from the Pat Sajak Assassins and the Lion's Daughter, and the return of King Khan and the Shrines to St. Louis. Friday (June 13):

The Return of the Funk Jam w/ Big Brother Thunder and the Master Blasters, Fresh Heir, DJ MAKossa, Hal Greens, DJ Mahf @ Atomic Cowboy 7 p.m. | $10/$12 DJ Mahf re-launches his funky concert series with an action-packed line-up of local talent. Recent RFT Music award winners, Big Brother Thunder and the Master Blasters, take the stage along with plenty other great performers. (MS)

Melt One-Year Anniversary w/ Animal Children @ Melt 9 p.m. St. Louis' favorite waffle-themed music venue (OK -- only waffle-themed music venue) on Cherokee Street blows out the candles on its first birthday cake.
