Get out and toast those buns! This weekend offers a couple different options for enjoying some tunes under the sun, such as Fair St. Louis' free concert series and Stag Nite in the Woods. If not feeling outdoors-y (or if the skies open up with rain as predicted), check out a selection of cool indoor shows like Chromaconditional at the Contemporary Art Museum and Bad Rabbits at the Firebird.
Friday (July 19):
Andy McKee @ Old Rock House 8:30 p.m. | $20-$30 Andy McKee plays the guitar finger-style and recorded this kickass cover of "Africa" by Toto. So, yeah. (DH)
Bad Rabbits @ The Firebird 8 p.m. | $12-$14 Any band good enough to be the backing band for none other than Slick Rick is good enough for us. Bad Rabbits is presently touring on their newest, the excellent American Love LP. (DH)
Chromaconditional @ Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis 8 p.m. | $10 See (and hear) what happens when experimental musicians and filmmakers assemble to connect the motion and colors of a large-scale super 8 mm film projection with modular synthesizers. Expect the unexpected. (MS)
Needtobreathe @ Soldiers Memorial Plaza w/ Roots of Rebellion, Blackwater '64 6 p.m. | free K'naan canceled his Friday night show, but the week's Fair Saint Louis festivities continue without a hitch. Alternative rock fans can convene for NEEDTOBREATHE, a rock band from South Carolina that's been crooning sappy love songs since 1998. (MS)
Also on this evening, check out Dawes and Nappy Roots. Click the links to read more via coverage from earlier this week.
