Welcome to the weekend! I'm operating from a strategic satellite location out of town at the moment, so I can't tell if it's spring in St. Louis yet. Regardless, I am bummed to be missing out on some awesome shows this weekend. For starters, Fister, Old Salt Union, Great Isaac and Tear Out the Heart debut some great new releases. Read on for more recommendations including KDHX's tribute to The Kinks and a snippet from KWUR Week.

Friday (Mar. 29):

Afroman @ 2720 Cherokee 8 p.m. | $10-$18 The last time Afroman was in town, he was gonna perform, but then he got high. Head down to Cherokee Street to see if follows through this time. (MS)

Fister CD Release w/ Bastard, ((THORLOCK)), The Gorge @ The Firebird 9 p.m. | $7 Read resident metal expert Rick Giordano's review of Fister's latest full length, Gemini, and then head to the show to grab a copy. (MS)

Old Salt Union CD Release w/ Acoustics Anonymous @ The Gramophone 9 p.m. | $10 Yet another local CD release show this weekend! (DH)

Saturday (Mar. 30):

Ev'rybody's Gonna Be Happy: A Tribute to the Kinks w/ The Aviation Club, The Blind Eyes, Burrowss, The Educated Guess, Estevan, Picture Day, Melody Den, The Nevermores, Old Lights, Prune @ Off Broadway 8 p.m. | $10-$20 KDHX does it again with another local star studded tribute event. See some of the Lou's finest pop-influenced outfits as they pay homage to The Kinks. (MS)

Great Isaac CD Release w/ The Union Electric, Langen Neubacher and the Defeated County, Suzie Cue @ Plush 8 p.m. | $5 The release shows just keep on coming. St. Louis rules, ok? (DH)
