Local music fans in the know spent last night at KDHX's massive party at the City Museum, Midwest Mayhem -- I myself had to wash my eyeballs this morning to try and purge them of the things I saw at the skatepark burlesque show. The whole event was huge, weird, fun and extremely exhausting, but there's no rest for the weary with the shows coming up this weekend. Burrowss CD Release Show @ The Heavy Anchor w/ Buffalo 66 8:00 p.m. | $5 Local dance-rock duo Burrowss is releasing their debut full-length Don't Take It Slow at this show, with friends Buffalo 66 in tow as well. (DH)
New Music Circle Showcase @ Kerr Foundation Building w/ Olivia Block, Joe Raglani, Kevin Harris, Jeremy Kannapell, Pat Boland and DJ Josh Levi 7:30 p.m. | $15 The New Music Circle is an international treasure of experimental and avant-garde music. It's 53rd season comes to a close here at the Kerr Foundation Building with an all-star lineup of regional knob fiddlers and sound manipulators. (KM)
The Polyphonic Spree @ Blueberry Hill 8:00 p.m. | $20 Tim DeLaughter and his merry army of noisemakers will play an improbably small venue. Our experience with the Spree has always left us in the mood to join hands and do good deeds for strangers. (KM)
Tennis @ Plush 7:00 p.m. | $12 It's something about a boat and modern art and philosophy degrees. Let's not get bogged down in the back story: The dreamy pop emanating from this preserved-since-the-80s duo (plus Denver scene veteren James Barone on the skins) doesn't need the gimmicks. (KM)

Maps and Atlases @ The Firebird w/ So Many Dynamos 8:30 p.m. | $12 Chicago's eccentric indie-rock outfit Maps and Atlases continuously pushes creative boundaries with a sound that is equal parts folk, math rock, and experimental pop.
