Tokyo Police Club can pack just about everything into a two-to-three-minute song. But two robust EPs and two ambitious full-lengths into its career, the feverishly young band still tackles the pressure to prove itself on record, usually through leaner, more mature indie rock that finds the guys strangely closer to the garage now than they were when they started. Although the band has yet to grow fully comfortable with its sound, the guys have adapted their Weezer personalities to their Strokes-like initiative to develop a sense of drive capable of taking them out of muffled mid-tempo territory and closer to some musical perspective.
