Tomorrow! Soft Black at Lemmons

There's something about melancholic psych-folk that seems to fit these lazy, hazy summer days. That's why I seem to be gravitating toward Soft Black, a NY band playing at Lemmons tomorrow night. "Lions," from the band's upcoming album, The Earth is Black, is just two minutes long, but the song contains plaintive pedal-steel, distressed guitars and a vocal delivery from songwriter Vincent Cacchione that drips with anxiety. RIYL '80s rockers such as the Connells, Guadalcanal Diary and the Del Fuegos.
