Talk about starting off with a bang: Tower Groove Records is a brand-new organization with the stated goal of "showcasing the quality and breadth of St. Louis music and culture." Judging by its inaugural event — an all-day fundraiser/celebration in support of an upcoming compilation album — its founders are not fooling around or wasting time. Nineteen bands on two stages, including such local heroes as Bunnygrunt, Beth Bombara, Fred Friction and Doom Town! A St. Louis Shuffle local-music DJ session! An honest-to-goodness carnival, complete with games and prizes! If Tower Groove Records turns out to be even somewhat as eclectic and fun as this event promises to be, we're looking at a watershed moment in local-music history. Do not miss.

Different Because: If you get bored with the music, you can go outside, play some games, check out the silent auction, or eat cotton candy. And children under twelve are admitted free, so there's your Sunday-afternoon budget parenting activity.
