As evidenced by his hitting urban chart after urban chart by crooning sexually charged, testosterone-filled ballads ("Sweet Lady," "Lately," "How You Gonna Act Like That" and, to a certain extent, Chingy's "Pullin' Me Back"), Tyrese can indeed belt a tune or two. But above-average-to-credible work in films such as 2 Fast 2 Furious, Four Brothers, Annapolis, Waist Deep and John Singleton's Baby Boy — in which the former model perfectly portrays a two-timing, petty-hustling, baby-making mama's boy — perhaps reflects acting abilities equal to his singing talents. Let's just hope the Los Angeles-born actor/singer sticks to his rhythm-and-blues guns when he hits the Lou to promote his J Records release, Alter Ego — as his emcee alter ego, Black-Ty, leaves a bit to be desired.
