The three guys and one gal of Via Audio may have formed while at Boston's Berklee College of Music, but the quartet possesses little of the pretentiousness that often accompanies formal training. Which isn't to say that the quartet isn't versatile: Via Audio's full-length debut Say Something offers low-key indie rock that incorporates hushed boy-girl harmonies and smart, danceable beats (imagine a female-fronted Sea and Cake and you're getting close). Keyboardist Jessica Martins draws most of the focus with an assured voice that she never oversells, as her bandmates weave together jarring guitar textures and complex rhythms. The result is comforting music that never lulls the listener into complacency.
