Columbia, Missouri's With Childlike Eyes is one of a handful of bands putting the nail in the coffin of baseball-cap-hardcore machismo. The self-described tech-grind trio offers up a hyperspeed mix of blast beats, stream-of-consciousness screams, dime-stop time changes and arty instrumental departures -- all in the span of songs that pass by in the time it takes a synapse to fire. With chops unmatched by most young groups (and the audacity to make fun of John Ritter's death in song), the Eyes prove punk's not dead -- it just got dropped into a blender. Drink up.
