Here's the story of a scruffy laddie with a corking line in ragged, tuneful songs. He cut a couple of albums on Stiff Records, but we hadn't seen him in so long. Here's the story of a gal named Rigby, who had a thing for power-popping blokes. She sang some insightful middle-aged laments and some funny dirty jokes. 'Til the one day when the laddie met this Rigby, and they jetted off to France to record an LP. They played all the instruments themselves and called it Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby. Musical-romantic couplings are notoriously volatile, but new wave's most charming urchin and the wittiest chronicler of '90s-era menopausal angst are no Ike & Tina. If they harmonize emotionally as comfortably as they harmonize vocally on their joint Stiff debut, Wreckless Eric can stop searching that "Whole Wide World" and Amy Rigby can stop wondering "Will We Ever Have Sex Again?"
