The lord of Pacific Northwestern doom metal, YOB has been howling and trudging since the mid-'90s. Spinning apocalyptic rattles with alarming consistency, the band is patient: Extended intros of spoken warnings and background bomb blasts give way to crushing bass and guitar riffs. YOB broke up briefly from 2006 to 2008 and has undergone a few membership swaps, but it remains as lethal as ever today. This tour, the trio is still supporting last year's
Atma.
Ask an Authority: As our favorite resident metal expert put it, "There are two kinds of people in the world: YOB fans and assholes."
