Shins Keyboardist Marty Crandall and ANTM Elyse Sewell Have Domestic Scuffle

Posted By on Sat, Jan 5, 2008 at 8:29 PM

So, I try not to blog on the weekend (too much -- I mean, sometimes things need to be said) and I've been out and about seeing music this weekend, but I'll pop in for this item. I'm totally Livejournal friends with Elyse Sewell -- a.k.a. the badass chick from the first season of America's Next Top Model, so I found out about her fight with (now) ex-boyfriend Marty Crandall, keyboardist for indie-rockers the Shins, yesterday.

The details are all at that link (while Brooklynvegan has the photo of Elyse's bruised arm, that she had on her now-locked journal post) but in a nutshell: Both were arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence and one count of corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant. (According to Sewell's post, he had a bite mark she inflicted in self-defense, and so he pressed charges against her.) Crandall's still in jail, Sewell's not, and their court date is Tuesday morning.

Internet commenters at those links are overwhelmingly on Team Elyse, and having a field day with Garden State/Zach Braff/The Shins in general. My favorite quip comes from Sewell's original post, involved noting that Crandall is probably "wincing the night away" in jail -- that's the name of the Shins' 2007 album. Zing.
