Who is Covering Morrissey's "Every Day is Like Sunday" on NFL ads?

Posted By on Sun, Sep 7, 2008 at 10:23 PM

My phone lit up with a text from a friend earlier today, laughing at the fact that the NFL is using a cover of Morrissey's "Every Day is Like Sunday" as music to advertise its football games. Even funnier, the song is skillfully edited, so the lines about armageddon, nuclear war and the Sunday being "silent and grey" are omitted. (I'm a Cleveland Browns fan, so perhaps it would have been appropriate to have left those in for us. Just sayin'.)

Some poking around the Internet did not yield any answers as to who the vocalist is on this version. (Although I found plenty of outraged fans, both at Morrissey and the ad itself.) So help me out here: Who's covering this tune?

After the jump, a refresher on the song.
