Beach House at the Billiken Club/The Rosebuds at the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center, Friday, April 3

Sheesh, as if having the Ting-Tings in town on April 3 isn't enough, two other cool shows have just been announced for the same date. Earlier this week, the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center announced that Megafaun (a folkish group with ties to Bon Iver -- the band members played with Justin Vernon in the group DeYarmond Edison) and perfect-popsters the Rosebuds would be sharing a bill on the Friday night. And now comes word from the Billiken Club that woozy pop act Beach House is also playing there on that date.

Looking at the out-of-town touring bands coming to St. Louis in the coming months, I hope people realize how lucky we are. Sure, not every act you might want to see is playing here -- Leonard Cohen and Dinosaur Jr., sigh -- but when it comes to indie rock, I can't remember a period in the last four years when we've had so much of it coming to town. Is this a reflection of the genre infiltrating the mainstream -- and therefore St. Louis finally catching on to the trend? Is it a function of better booking? A result of agents realizing that crowds do come to shows here (mostly)? Or a combo of the three? (Before anyone chimes in, the money colleges have is an acknowledged given, so I'm not including it as a variable.) I'm not sure, but I'm not going to question it. Videos after the jump.
Beach House, "Gila"
