iTunes Honors SLSO For Recording 2009's Best Contemporary Classical Album

Posted By on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 6:20 PM

Doctor Atomic Symphony, the John Adams composition it recorded under conductor David Robertson, was named iTunes' Best Contemporary Classical Album of 2009. (Screenshot below.) Released by Nonesuch Records in July, Atomic was recorded at Powell Symphony Hall in 2008. The composition also had its world premiere here at the same venue last year. As if that wasn't a big engou honor, the Times of London also chose Atomic as the best classical album of the entire decade.
