Jon Hardy & the Public, "Here Comes the Night" (Them cover) Jon Hardy & the Public is still releasing a new EP at Off Broadway on November 12. In the meantime, check out a cover of Them's "Here Comes the Night," which premiered on the blog Cover Me. (Them, of course, was Van Morrison's breakthrough band.)

Dots Not Feathers, "Shoulda Coulda" Props to the blog I Went To a Show, who hipped me to the new local band Dots Not Feathers. Well-orchestrated chamber-pop with acoustic foundations, church-choir-esque harmonies and hushed atmosphere -- the kind of music cropping up in St. Louis more and more these days -- is the order of the day. The band reports that it's opening for Company of Thieves at the Firebird on November 4; an album is also on the way. "Sylvia" is available for a free download at Facebook, but we suggest listening to the stream of "Shoulda Coulda."
