Every year, the Washington University radio station KWUR holds "KWUR Week," a celebration of the diverse genres it spotlights. 2011's edition of the event, which takes place from February 13 to 19 and is open to the general public, features a solid mix of local and national musical talent. The biggest draw is probably Thee Oh Sees, a fiery garage-rock troupe from San Francisco. It'll be playing at the Gargoyle on Saturday, February 19, with up-and-comers Fergus and Geronimo and locals Flaming Death Trap.

On Friday, February 18, electronic upstart Paper Diamond (a.k.a. Alex B of Pnuma Trio, a frequent performer at places such as 2720 Cherokee) will be at the Gargoyle with Robotic Pirate Monkey. The venue will also host a local blues and folk showcase on Sunday, February 13, with Pokey LaFarge, Larry Griffin and Eric McSpadden. The Holmes Lounge, meanwhile, will have a jazz show Dave Stone and Peter Schlamb on Thursday, February 17.

Now, here's the most pertinent info: How do you get tickets?

Well, $5 public tickets are available soon or at the door the night of the show. (Students are free with an I.D.) The jazz show is free to everybody and starts at 8 p.m. Otherwise, the other shows start at 9 p.m. More info is available on KWUR Week's Facebook page.
