Theresa Payne Wins Budweiser Superfest Contest

Theresa Payne, no stranger to winning things recently, emerged victorious in this weekend's Budweiser Superfest Opening Act contest. Her prize? A spot on the big stage at Thursday's Jill Scott Summer Block Party and $5,000. Yep: Five thousand. Congratulations, Theresa!

The Force member competed against nine other singers from the area in a competition Saturday at the Loft. Payne now moves on to compete against finalists from other cities for a chance at $25,000.

The other finalists in St. Louis were LaTisha Haynes (Tish), Theresa Payne, Sheneatha Frison (Sheneatha), Andrew Boostrom, DeAndre Perryman, Cherilyn Evans (Cheri Evans), Monya Williams (Monya), Kristin Stimage (Ms. Kriss), Erricka Brown (Erricka Cain) and Linda Tran (Mail Lee).

Plenty of people were on hand to witness Payne's victory -- among them was Tech Supreme, who summed up the feeling nicely:
