Euclid Records -- one of several excellent purveyors of music in this town and our 2012 winner for Best Record Store -- has just released its top 50 sellers of 2012. It's an interesting list for several reasons. It bears almost no resemblance to Billboard's list, of course. But it also speaks to the tight-knit nature of St. Louis' music community.

Local favorite (and Euclid Records signee) Sleepy Kitty comes in at number seven with Infinity City, which actually didn't even come out this year. There's also a strong local tie to the Woody Guthrie tribute New Multitudes, which features hometown hero Jay Farrar.

You can also find a fairly strong connection between the touring schedule in this city and this list. Not every artist featured stopped by the River City, but many of those who outperformed their national sales rankings did. Peruse and draw conclusions at your leisure.
