Tongue-in-cheek boogie rockers Eagles of Death Metal announced that the band will be playing a concert in the shadow of the arch on May 18. The show is part of sponsor Jack Daniel's new Live at the Landmark show series, where as you might guess, bands play famous landmarks across the United States. The series started April 8 with Okkervil River playing at New York City's Grand Central Terminal.

This is only Eagles of Death Metal's second show of the year, and as of press time, its only scheduled concert. The band's constantly rotating live lineup played its first show with former Ween drummer Claude Coleman at SXSW in March. According to the band's assuredly utterly infallible Wikipedia page, Coleman is the band's new permanent live drummer, but no official announcement has been made.

Eagles of Death Metal's previous live drummer, Joey Castillo, recently departed from Queens of the Stone Age. Josh Homme fronts Queens of the Stone Age and drums for Eagles of Death Metal's albums, but his commitment to the former group usually keeps him from touring with Eagles of Death Metal.

According to Eagles of Death Metal's site, the show is free, but the Live at the Landmark site only offers contestants of drinking age a chance to win tickets to the "Overlook Stage," where the band will play. It's unclear if these tickets are for a preferred seating area or if they are required for entry, but either way, people within earshot of the arch should be able to at least hear the band.
