Plenty of locked and loaded local bands let loose with brand new releases this weekend, including Brotherfather, Pistols and the Sisters and the Glass Cavalry. In addition to these great shows, the Cherokee Street Jazz Crawl fills the street with swing on Saturday and a number of touring acts pay visits to clubs all over town. Read on for these recommendations and more.

Friday (November 8):

Alabama @ The Fox Theatre 8 p.m. | $49.50-$122 Fact: Southern rock stars Alabama have racked up twenty-one gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums, and their following is so dedicated that the Fox had to add a second show on Saturday just to meet the overwhelming demand for seats. (MS)

Brotherfather CD Release W/ Secondary Modern, Minor Characters, The Old Souls Revival @ The Heavy Anchor 9 p.m. | $5 Local indie rock outfit Brotherfather releases its debut album. Get the full story in this week's Fill in the Blank profile of the band. (MS)

Eliot Lipp w/ Quasar Camp @ 2720 Cherokee 10:30 p.m. | $10-$13 Straight outta Brooklyn, Eliot Lipp has been making a name for himself in the EDM scene since 2004, when he released his debut album through Scott Herren of Prefuse 73. (DH)

Pistols and the Sisters CD Release w/ Cree Rider Family Band, Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo @ The Firebird 9 p.m. | $10-$12 The new CD is way good, trust us. Music to chop logs and live in a cabin to. When I go crazy and move into a shack in the woods, I'm bringing a CD player with batteries just so I can listen to this CD. Cree Rider's latest is good too; pick that one up while you are at the show! (DH)

Life in Vacuum w/ 2194, Typesetter, Phineas Gage @ Lemp Arts Center 8 p.m. | $5 Toronto's Life in Vacuum plays feverish post-hardcore laden with mathy riffs and punctuated yells. Check out its tunes on Bandcamp. The filled to the gills bill is shared with a couple of other traveling acts: 2194 from Ann Arbor and Typesetter from Chicago. (MS).
