Michael Brown's death and the situation in Ferguson have prompted plenty of attention from musicians both locally and nationally. Jeezy, Wiz Khalifa, J. Cole, Nelly, John Legend and more have voiced support for Brown's family and decried police tactics in Ferguson.

Now we can add Billy Bragg to that growing list.

Around noon, Bragg announced on Twitter that he'd be playing a set in support of Ferguson tonight at the Royale:

Steve Smith, proprietor of the Royale, confirmed Bragg's 8 p.m. acoustic set on his personal Facebook page and on Twitter.

UPDATE: Smith stressed to RFT Music that seating will be very, very limited. He did, however, request that no matter if patrons are able to snag a seat or are turned away due to capacity, they still should bring an abundance of canned goods, toiletries, school supplies and first-aid kits to the Royale. Smith then will distribute items to north St. Louis County residents through various organizations, emphasizing that tonight's event is about helping the community.

Bragg -- whose music offers elements of folk, punk and country -- is known as a left-wing activist involved with grassroots movements. Over the years, the songwriting guitarist has been outspoken about his distaste for bigotry of all types and has joined protests and demonstrations worldwide.

St. Louis isn't Bragg's only performance to aid a group. He also just stopped by Galesburg, Illinois, to aid teachers striking for more pay:
