UPDATE 2: And now there are two more shows on November 2! Original post below.

We thought yesterday's announcement that Weezer will be playing at Plush next month was a big deal -- and it is -- but then word came in that the enigmatic and hilarious Dave Chappelle will be hitting a St. Louis stage in October as well.

Chappelle famously walked away from the spotlight in 2005, in the midst of the third season of his Comedy Central show and at the height of his popularity. Until last year's Funny or Die-sponsored Oddball Comedy & Curiosity festival tour with Flight of the Conchords, his standup appearances were sparse with little fanfare.

During that tour Chappelle attempted to perform in Hartford, Connecticut, and ended up walking offstage in the midst of heckling, vowing to never return. Despite this, he stunned the Hartford audience at this year's edition of the tour in August with a surprise return, even apologizing for his previous behavior.

"I did not think I would ever come back to Hartford again," he said. "It was a year ago tonight. I had 364 nights to think about that fatal night, one year ago.... I was really immature about what happened." (Watch the video below for this and fifteen minutes of new material from the set.)

Chappelle has been playing select cities this year in what some have described as a comeback tour, and St. Louis is lucky to be one of them. The two-show event will take place on Thursday, October 30, with separate sets at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $55 and go on sale at 10 a.m. today through the Pageant and Both shows will surely sell out, so act quickly.
