You know you're living in the dead of winter when 32 degrees feels toasty. The city seemed to thaw out for a day or two, only to be pulled back down with frigid air and biting wind. But March approaches, bringing warmer air (hopefully) and plenty of great shows (definitely). This weekend brings plenty of the latter for those bold enough to brave the elements. Delmar Records celebrates the Kick Start, a show to raise awareness about the label's new Kickstarter campaign and its solid roster of artists, including Tef Poe, Tech Supreme and more. Friday is especially packed, but we've pulled together the strongest shows in town so you can plan ahead.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27

DJ Crucial Birthday/Retro Active Double Cassette Release Party w/ Count Bass D, DJ Crucial, DJ Agile One, Black Spade Friday, February 27 Blank Space 9 p.m. | $7 DJ Crucial, a.k.a. Rob Fulstone, releases his latest tape, Retro Active, at this show (plus birthday party!) with special guest sets from Black Spade, Count Bass D and DJ Agile. Live art by local artist Ian Quattrocchi. (JH)

Delmar Records Presents: The Kick Start w/ Tef Poe, James K, Indiana Rome, Legend Camp, T-Dubb O, Tech Supreme Friday, February 27 The Bootleg 9 p.m. | $10 The newly launched Delmar Records shows off its talent at this label showcase featuring Tef Poe, James K, Indiana Rome, Legend Camp and T-Dubb O. (DH)

Morgan Orion w/ Whsky Gngr, Ryan Markovich Friday, February 27 Livery Company 9:30 p.m. | $5 Urbana native Morgan Orion describes himself as "anti-folk" -- but don't let that deter you. All three acts on the bill fit within the folk genre, but the variety among them makes this show a sure bet. (JH)

Never Shout Never Friday, February 27 Off Broadway 8 p.m. | $20-$22 Bona fide rock stars, straight outta Joplin. Show some MO pride. (DH)

Pat Sajak Assassins w/ 3 of 5, Bear Cub, the Ultraviolents Friday, February 27 Foam Coffee & Beer 9 p.m. | free Motherboard, the latest release by local post-rock outfit Pat Sajak Assassins, was released all the way back in June 2014, but the songs still feel fresh. Come see the band's blend of glitched-out post-rock alongside math duo Bear Cub and chiptune pop-dude 3 of 5. (JH)

Split Lip Rayfield Friday, February 27 Old Rock House 9 p.m. | $20 Pour one out for the late Kirk Rundstrom. Then pour several more into your face and get your cow-punk on. (DH)

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28

Koffin Kats w/ Opposites Attack Saturday, February 28 Fubar 8 p.m. | $10-$12 Horror-punk outfit Koffin Kats proudly waves the psychobilly flag, bringing quick songs that incite moshing and dance moves alike. But don't be caught without a leather jacket -- you don't forget to wear green on St. Patrick's Day do you? You'll get pinched, duh. (JH)

Motionless in White w/ For Today, Ice Nine Kills Saturday, February 28 The Ready Room 7 p.m. | $17-$18 Metalcore is Scranton, Pennsylvania's second most popular export! (After paper.) (DH)

SUNDAY, MARCH 1

Milo Greene Sunday, March 1 Blueberry Hill 8 p.m. | $15 Last month Milo Green released Control, the greatly anticipated followup to its 2012 (and debut) self-titled album. Clever hooks cover this indie-pop band with an insatiable energy -- its live show tends to be more of an "experience" than just another concert. (JH)

Whitechapel w/ Til Death We Rise, CarolAnne, As Shadows Collapse Sunday, March 1 The Firebird 6:30 p.m. | $15-$17 Check out this intensely gory video Whitechapel just released yesterday. But not at work. You will get fired and/or committed. (DH)

Note: Though we wish we could, we can't feature every great show happening in town in just one post. Peruse the St. Louis concert calendar for more ideas, and let everyone know what else you're looking forward to seeing this weekend in the comments below.
