This past Saturday, St. Louis venue Fubar played host to a metal show with the bands Kult Ov Azazel, Khaotika and Wormreich on the bill. Just two days later, as that tour made its way from a show in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to Atlanta, Georgia, the van that was carrying the members of Khaotika and Wormreich was involved in a terrible crash that left three dead and two in critical condition.

"The driver lost control, either by going to sleep or some other means, we're still investigating that," Georgia State Patrol Corporal Scott Smith told Atlanta's WSB-TV. "He left the roadway, traveled about 300 feet off the roadway and struck a tree with the passenger side of the van."

Ian McKinney, 30, of Madison, Tennessee; Paul J. Truesdell, 29, of Mableton, Georgia; and Nicholas Crisostomo, 25, of Round Hill, Virginia were all ejected from the vehicle upon impact. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Eight other passengers were taken to the hospital; two remain in critical condition. The van was carrying twelve passengers and towing a trailer at the time of the crash.

According to Smith, charges are pending against the driver, 27-year-old Sergio Quesada of Athens, Georgia, though it is unclear at this time what those charges will be -- police say the investigation into the crash could take months.

Kult Ov Azazel, which was slated to perform in Atlanta tonight as well, released the following statement via the band's Facebook page:

Unfortunately tonight's show in Atlanta, GA will be canceled. The van carrying Wormreich and Khaotika was in a horrible...

Shortly afterward, Fubar posted on its Facebook page that the venue will be hosting a benefit show for the families of the deceased on Saturday, May 9, and is seeking bands that would like to perform:

Last Saturday we had an excellent metal show in the lounge. This morning, two of those bands were in a horrible...
