A St. Charles Community College student who previously declared himself to be in an "O'Fallon State of Mind" has now given Missouri the anthem it's been waiting for.

DJ Rockette's "The Missouri Anthem" name-checks a host of local hotspots and points of interest, from Ted Drewes and Elephant Rocks State Park to the Bridal Cave and Chillicothe, Mo. — "the home of sliced bread."

"You know, not too many people know anything about the state of Missouri," the song begins. "I mean, they know we have the Arch, we got a couple caves and what-not, but uh, let me go ahead and show you what we do have."

He continues, "Most people would say this is a lovely land/the hardest job you can have is being the weather man." Hey, the kid knows what he's talking about!

The video also features Carli Rohlfing, whose choruses provide a nice counter to DJ Rockette's enthusiastic patter. You can watch the whole thing below.

Warning: The song is strangely compelling, even if Rockette and Rohlfing's pronunciation of our state's name as "misery" makes our question our life choices. And also, while we're on the subject, has there ever been a better Missouri-based lyric than this, from "O'Fallon State of Mind": "In New York City, they have Times Square/but we have something better/ It's a beautiful street/ called Tom Ginnever"? Or maybe that's just us?
