Cicero's Will Close Entirely This Weekend, Owners Looking to Sell

Posted By on Tue, Jun 20, 2017 at 4:59 PM

Just one day after Cicero's talent buyer Jay Mumma announced that the Loop restaurant would no longer be hosting shows after this Saturday, word has come down that the space will be shutting its doors altogether this weekend.

The announcement comes via a Facebook post.

"It’s with an extremely heavy heart that I inform you all that our last day of business will be Sunday, June 25th," the post reads. "After nearly forty years of serving up some of St. Louis’ best pizza, and beer, among other things, we’ve determined it no longer makes sense to continue."

Cicero's first opened in 1977, and moved to its current location in 1996. For decades it was an anchor in the Delmar Loop neighborhood, well-known for its pizza and beer and live music. Its founder, Shawn Jacobs, passed away last June at the age of 74, leaving the business to his children, Chad and Trisha.

The Jacobs family is now trying to sell the business.

"If you are interested in continuing the Cicero’s legacy, we are looking for prospective buyers," they write. "Please contact Ron Kramer at Kramer Commercial Realty. He can be reached at 314-221-6276."

The venue's final show, featuring the Weekend Routine, kicks off at 6:15 p.m. Saturday. The last day to patronize the restaurant and bar is this Sunday.
