Looking to buy/sell/trade an exclusive pair of Js? (That's Jordans, for the laymen.) Good news: The third annual Show Me Kicks Expo will take place this Saturday, July 1 at 12 p.m. at the Old Post Office (815 Olive Street). The exposition was first conceived four years ago by sneakerheads Chris Simmons, Rasheed Sulaiman and Devin Woodson, aiming to give St. Louisans a taste of a "big city" sneaker expo.

The trio wanted to do something positive within the community with something they were all passionate about: sneakers and the thriving culture surrounding them. "We've seen large sneaker trade shows in other cities and we felt compelled to bring a larger-scaled expo to St. Louis," Simmons explains.

Simmons says the expo has grown each year since its inception. "The amount of support from corporate sponsors such as sneaker retailers, City Gear and the Vault for our 2017 show is a clear indication that we're headed in the right direction," he says. "We also have the support of Downtown STL, which has been a major game changer for us."

At the expo, attendees can come empty handed and buy sneakers from fellow attendees and vendors, or bring their own shoes to sell and trade with anyone else in attendance. The expo also includes prizes, raffles and music.

Simmons describes the purpose of the event as to "provide a fun environment for sneaker enthusiasts to buy, sell, trade and discuss the culture we live and love."

This year's show will feature the first ever "SMKE Sneaker Talk," a Q&A panel discussion that will take place in the expo. This panel will feature local sneaker experts as well as sneakerheads from as far as Oklahoma. "The theme of this year's panel is whether or not sneaker reselling is good or bad for the culture, " Simmons says. "It should be a great conversation."

In addition to the buying, selling and trading of sneakers, SMKE will act as an outlet to help the less fortunate by asking attendees to donate new or lightly used shoes to its charitable partner, Shoe Fly STL.
