America's biggest birthday party is going home.

After four years of record-setting crowds in Forest Park, Fair St. Louis will return to the Arch in 2018. The Independence Day celebration will serve as a grand opening of sorts for the new $380 million CityArchRiver project.

Those renovations to the Arch grounds were what caused Fair St. Louis to move in the first place. The party had previously been held in the shadow of the Arch since 1981, back when it was still called the V.P. Fair.

“The Arch now, more than ever, stands as a shining symbol of our great city,” Todd Schnuck, chairman of Fair Saint Louis Foundation, says in a statement. “We are excited to be a part of the rebirth of our iconic calling card to the world. The foundation is thankful to the City of St. Louis and all our partners at Forest Park for providing the Fair an amazing home the last four years."

Mayor Lyda Krewson provided a statement in support of the move as well.

“The City of St. Louis and Mayor’s Office have been proud partners of Fair Saint Louis since its beginning back in 1981," she says. "We are excited to see the Fair back at the Gateway Arch grounds to help celebrate our nation’s independence in conjunction with the completion of the renovation. It’s going to be THE place to celebrate Fourth of July next year.”

Fair St. Louis will take place July 4, 6 and 7 in 2017. Watch a short video from the organizers announcing the move below:
