DMX Buys People Shots, Gives Sermon at St. Louis Airport Chili's

Posted By on Wed, Jan 24, 2018 at 6:59 AM

DMX spent Monday night at a Chili's in St. Louis Lambert International Airport preaching the good word of the Lord while handing out shots, TMZ reports.

The rapper had performed at the Chaifetz arena with E-40, Scarface and more as part of the "All-Stars of Hip-Hop" tour the night before. Monday night found him at the airport bar, speaking on his relationship with God and, according to eyewitnesses, purchasing shots for himself and those with whom he was speaking.

"You won't know what God is willing to do for you until you're in a situation where you need him to do it for you," he tells his drinking buddies, according to a video of the incident. "So I praise God for my difficult situations. Because it's in these situations that I become aware of what God is willing to do for me. I know what God is capable of doing, but I won't know what he's willing to do for me until I need him to do it for me."

DMX is no stranger to difficult situations. In July the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was charged with fourteen tax fraud related counts — prosecutors allege he owes some $1.7 million in taxes dating back to 2000. He faces 44 years if convicted on all counts, and was placed on house arrest.

Then, in August, DMX made headlines again when he traveled to St. Louis without permission from the court — a violation of his bail. He soon left house arrest and entered rehab after failing a drug test, where he has remained, though he has been allowed to travel for performances.

"House arrest wasn't working for me, so I made the decision to do something positive and better for myself," he said at the time.

This most recent trip to St. Louis could have consequences for the rapper as well. According to TMZ, DMX's lawyer, Murray Richman, expressed surprise at reports that the rapper was drinking here in St. Louis, as DMX is supposed to be traveling with his sober coach.

It seems possible that reports of his drinking could complicate his legal troubles — not to mention any attempts he is making at achieving sobriety. Luckily, as he says, God has his back in times of trouble.
