Armed Robberies Near Wash U Campus Trigger Alert

A pair of armed robberies last night on the edge of the campus of Washington University have university police warning students to take caution.

The robberies took place at 7 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. Wednesday — one at Big Bend and Forsyth and the second at Eastgate and Cabanne.

According to a campus-wide security alert, a female suspect approached the victims in both cases and asked to borrow a cell phone. Then a male accomplice approached, displaying "a weapon" and taking the phones.

The first robbery garnered the suspects two phones; the second, one phone, according to the alert. The suspects then took off on foot.

University City police are investigating, according to the alert.
