Last week, law enforcers in western Missouri area
sniffed out a huge trove of hot merch: about four tractor trailers worth of car batteries, lampshades, pillows and, yes, $58,000 in assorted Halloween candy.
Candy? you ask.
Is there a black market for that? Not necessarily.
"A lot of times these [tractor trailer] thieves are getting the trailers not knowing what the load is," says Lieutenant David Millsap of the Springfield Police Department, adding to
Daily RFT: "It's a huge industry problem, it's exploded over the last couple of years."

The Wall Street Journal just reported in February that the number of trailers stolen nationally has increased by about a hundred every year for the last few years.
